The Chesterfield County School Board on Sept. 9 approved memo 126-25 naming the new Westerly Parkway elementary school Deep Creek Elementary and setting the school to operate on a Tier 3 schedule (9:25 a.m.–3:55 p.m.).
Staff explained the recommendation notes the new school’s proximity to Deep Creek Middle School and the practical benefits of aligning tiers to simplify bus routing and community planning. The memo also observed that the facility—part of the 2022 community facilities bond—will accommodate up to about 1,000 students in grades K–5 and is scheduled to open in August 2026.
The naming recommendation followed the district’s past practice of community input used when naming Deep Creek Middle School; the board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation by roll call.
Board members said tier alignment supports transportation efficiency, and staff will proceed with implementation steps tied to the district’s enrollment and bus routing plans.
