The East Grand Forks City Council voted to hire Lacey Anderson as the city’s next library director, approving Resolution 26-04-38 on Tuesday night.
Anderson addressed the council briefly after the motion, saying, “Hi, I'm Lacey. I've met some of you. And I'm excited to come on board as the library director if you all approve that tonight.” Council member Dale Helms moved the resolution and Council member Kiesme seconded; the motion passed on a roll-call vote.
Council members welcomed Anderson and thanked outgoing staff. Council members noted a transition plan: Anderson was expected to begin work later in the week if approved, with outgoing staff member Miss Elgison scheduled to return Monday to assist with transition tasks. Anderson said she currently works at the Learning Garden on the University of North Dakota campus and expects to complete her PhD in Educational Foundations and Research in August.
The council’s action formalizes the city’s appointment process and allows staff to begin onboarding. No amendments to the hiring resolution were recorded and no public comments were offered during the item.
The council moved on to other agenda business after the vote.
