City engineer Jesse Dean told the committee the FFA alumni asked to mount roughly 2‑by‑2‑foot placards at the Highway 210 sign by the airport, on Highway 18 near the state hospital and on Highway 25 just south of Highway 18. Dean said the signs “are typically aluminum” with retroreflective sheeting to match existing signage.
Council members raised questions about materials and consistency with existing placards. Councilman Chz, who recited the FFA opening line before making the motion, said the group “are absolutely magnificent” and moved to approve the installation. A second was given and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The staff recommendation included removing faded “Hearts Safe Community” placards from the Highway 210 assemblies; the committee accepted that amendment and approved the package. The action directs staff to implement the sign installations and the removals, and to return to the council as required for final implementation details.
