County highway report: 14th Avenue bridge ahead of schedule; commissioners approve hiring, remodel bid and Amazon Business Prime

Falv also reported summer hours for highway crews (7 a.m.–5:30 p.m.), continuing crack sealing as weather allows, completion of a wing-wall repair on 175th Street and participation in flood-planning and emergency-management discussions. He said Hollowway Construction completed the 175th Street repair and noted that construction on State Highway 25 in Clark County will route detour traffic onto county roads.
On motions, commissioners approved several routine actions during the meeting. They voted to post and fill a full‑time Highway Maintenance Tech II vacancy (motion by Johnson; second by Gable), approved a notice to bidders for the second phase of the county highway shop remodel (motion by Melaney; second by Schwear), and authorized purchase of an Amazon Business Prime account after staff estimated that annual shipping and handling costs exceed the $129 subscription price (motion by Gable; second by Melhaney). All motions carried by voice vote.
The board also received and noted annual nameplate-capacity (production) tax distributions from multiple wind projects (Crown Ridge, Crown Ridge 2 and Dakota Range projects) with a packet breakdown of township and school-district shares. Commissioners approved county claims and a separate set of claims related to the jail construction project (motions carried by voice vote) and accepted personnel changes (seasonal park custodians and a new corrections officer) and travel requests as listed in the county packet.
