Coventry school leaders approve resolution formalizing deficit-reduction corrective action plan

Members of Coventry Public Schools approved a resolution formally adopting a deficit-reduction corrective action plan during a meeting that began at 4:45 p.m. The committee voted 4–0 to pass the measure and directed staff to circulate signed copies to town and school officials before the district's budget hearing on the 28th.

The committee discussed two draft versions of the resolution: a town solicitor draft written in municipal terms and a version prepared by the committee attorney, John Anderson, which the committee said aligned the language with Title 16, the public school law referenced in the committee attorney's draft. A committee member said the intent of both drafts is the same, and that the committee sought a school-specific resolution to accompany prior committee approval of the corrective action plan.
