Randolph County school board approves transportation contract, summer pay and maintenance allocations

The board approved summer maintenance allocations based on square footage, naming $2,500 each for RRCTC, Rural Retreat Junior High, Whytheville Elementary, Wythe Middle and Wooden Elementary; and $3,800 for Whytheville High School, $4,500 for RCHS and $4,100 for Wooden High School.
The board also approved an out-of-state field trip for approximately 41 Wooden first graders to Old McDermitt’s Farm in Carrollton, Georgia, on May 7, and approved the personnel action sheet, while acknowledging several teacher retirements.
“We’ve heard the recommendation of the superintendent,” the chair said repeatedly throughout the meeting when calling for motions and votes; each listed item was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. The record does not include roll-call tallies.
