Candidates introduce themselves for Marshfield Ethics Board and Utilities Commission; elections deferred

At its meeting the Marshfield Common Council heard brief presentations from candidates seeking appointments to the Ethics Board and the Marshfield Utilities Commission; the council did not vote on those citizen-board positions and said elections will be set for the April 28 meeting.
Leslie Kramer introduced herself as a longtime Central Wisconsin resident with a paralegal and compliance background and recent work in privacy consumer compliance at Sentry Insurance. "I have applied to join the Ethics Committee... I definitely know how government works and how important it is for citizens to step up and volunteer for the various committees in government," Kramer said.
Dawn Urban said she and her family have lived in Marshfield for about 23 years and described more than two decades of human resources leadership experience, including roles as an HR director. "I feel that my HR background and my knowledge of employment laws would very much have a positive impact on the Ethics Committee," Urban said.
For the Marshfield Utilities Commission, the mayor noted one aldermanic applicant, Brian Varsho; that appointment was deferred. Four citizen applicants were presented for two open citizen seats: Dan Connect (who said he previously served as Marshfield director of public works and is a registered professional engineer), Mike O'Reilly (not present), Donna Rosar (who introduced herself and gave her Marshfield address), and John Schneider (not present; information provided in the packet). Dan Connect described a 25-year public-works career and said he returned to Marshfield after working elsewhere; he noted an engineering degree from UW–Madison and professional registration in Wisconsin.
The mayor and staff reiterated that no action would be taken on those citizen appointments at this meeting unless the council suspended rules to allow immediate election; instead, elections will be scheduled for April 28.
The council then moved to other agenda items.
