East Troy athletics reports rising participation, conference titles and state qualifiers

The East Troy School District’s director of athletics updated the board on winter‑season results, participation and culture, reporting higher athlete participation, improved coach‑survey responses and several team and individual honors.
Participation rose to 22.4% of high‑school students this winter, with the number of athletes increasing from 64 to 93 despite overall enrollment declines. The director credited price adjustments, federal reimbursements and improved cost control in food services for some of the funding support that indirectly helps athletics.
On performance: boys basketball finished 21–6 overall and 13–1 in conference play to win the conference title; they lost in the regional final to Lake Mills. Wrestling produced multiple individual conference placers and state qualifiers, including a senior who became East Troy’s first four‑time state placer. Coaches received positive survey responses on respect and fairness, and the director highlighted cross‑team support—wrestling parents and athletes rallied for the basketball team during a playoff run.
The athletics office also plans to move to Bound digital ticketing next year to track attendance and reduce cash handling at events.
Administrators said they will present a revised coaches handbook to coaches and bring it back to the board at the May meeting for review.
