Extension office reports 132 4‑H members, lists events, scholarships and new council appointments

Kendra summarized recent outreach conducted around a county food drive that collected about 2,200 pounds of food and helped serve roughly 450 meals in Bismarck. She also pointed to recent public programs: a Garden Symposium at Mineral Area College that drew more than 100 attendees, and a series of horticulture and pasture‑management presentations.
The extension office announced a slate of upcoming events and youth activities, including the Show‑Me Select Heifer sale on May 8, a prospect show at the county fairgrounds on May 2, a Master Gardener presentation, and a Ste. Genevieve Garden Walk on May 16–17. Kendra encouraged residents to consult the office’s website and QR‑coded handouts for event details.
The presentation also covered governance and scholarships. Kendra announced newly elected or appointed extension council members—Taylor Bullock, Rick Gross, Delores and Jim Howard, Darren Gallaher—and the reappointment of Kelly Buckley. Representatives from Farm Bureau—Renee Beard and Tracy Stroud—were named to the council, and Mike Belken was introduced as an appointee from MFA.
Kendra reminded high‑school seniors that two scholarships administered through the office are open: the Mackley (Mac Lee) memorial scholarship for 4‑H and FFA students and the East Central Cattlemen’s Association scholarship. Applications are available online.
A member of the public, identified as Dave, praised extension staff for quick assistance locating a farm specialist after an auction and thanked the office for its customer service.
