The Liberty Public Schools Board of Education on first and final action reorganized its leadership for the coming year, electing Karen Rogers as board president and approving a set of officer appointments by acclamation.
After nominations were opened for president, a motion to elect Karen Rogers passed on roll call with all members voting in favor. The board then nominated and elected Jen Bower as vice president; the roll call for that motion recorded one abstention by Bower on her own vote, and the motion carried. The board appointed AJ Bird as the district’s MSBA (Missouri School Boards Association) delegate and Drew Marriott as the alternate; both appointments passed by acclamation with recorded abstentions for AJ Bird and Drew Marriott on the delegate/alternate motion.
The board also appointed Cindy Sullivan as board treasurer and confirmed Denise Aldridge as board secretary. All of those appointments were approved by roll call.
The actions were taken during the regular monthly meeting after a brief recess and the administration of the oath of office to three incumbents who ran unopposed in the April election. Board members who participated in recorded roll calls included Nick, Jen, AJ, Dan, Drew, Angie and Karen; votes were read aloud by Denise Aldridge, the board secretary.
The reorganization items were presented as procedural motions; no substantive policy changes were tied to the appointments during this meeting. The board listed its upcoming calendar and confirmed participation in the MSBA summer summit and other governance obligations.
