Committee OKs temporary shared IT services agreement with City of Baxter

The Brainerd City Personnel and Finance Committee on Dec. 15 approved a temporary shared-services agreement to provide limited IT support to the neighboring City of Baxter while Baxter fills an imminent vacancy.
John introduced the item, saying Baxter has an IT vacancy and requested short-term assistance on an as-needed basis. He said attorneys for both cities modified and vetted an existing shared-service agreement from prior work at the airport for this limited engagement. "The compensation rate is our fully loaded rate plus 5% admin fees," John said. The agreement is intended to cover approximately 60 to 90 days, with Brainerd providing help unless the hours become onerous, at which point Baxter would seek third-party services.
Committee members expressed support for helping Baxter given longstanding cooperation between the cities and approved the temporary agreement by voice vote. Staff said the two cities share many similar systems, including finance and imaging platforms, which reduces onboarding friction.
Next steps: staff will execute the temporary shared-services agreement and provide as-needed IT support to Baxter for the agreed period.
