The Brainerd City Personnel and Finance Committee authorized the sale/return of two street-division vehicles after staff said both units will be replaced.
Public works leadership told the committee that last year's street budget was intended to include one replacement but, because of timing and use by engineering staff, two vehicles will be returned and replaced. Staff explained one vehicle had already been replaced with a new vehicle through an enterprise lease and that both units are scheduled for replacement.
A committee member moved to accept staff's recommendation to return and sell the two vehicles; the motion passed by voice vote. The meeting transcript does not contain a roll-call tally.
Why this matters: timely replacement keeps the street and engineering fleets functional and allows the city to retire older units. Staff flagged a correction to last year's agenda, which had mistakenly listed only one vehicle for return.
