Oradell board approves revised school calendar and routine consent items

The Oradell Board of Education unanimously approved a revised 2025–26 school calendar and multiple routine consent items during its April meeting.

Mr. Darien introduced a revised calendar to incorporate one additional snow day; Mrs. Genshi seconded the motion and the board approved it by roll call (all members present voted "Yes"). The revision was described as a scheduling update to be added to the agenda as walk-on item A1.

Following the calendar vote the board moved and approved buildings and grounds item B1 and curriculum item C1, which ratified the sixth-grade field trip to the Museum of Natural History (board members clarified that two staff members drove in addition to a bus). Finance items D1–D6 were presented collectively and approved by roll call after Mr. Darien said the finance committee had not met since the last meeting. Personnel item F1 (two substitute hires slated to work late May and June) was presented by Mrs. Walker and approved by roll call; board members confirmed the substitutes are related to existing teachers.

Board member Mr. Ayapelli reported the county had approved the district budget with one minor change; the board will advertise the budget ahead of the May 6 public hearing. The board did not take separate votes on the minutes review for March 18 and 25, noting only review was required.

All recorded roll-call votes on the listed items were unanimous in favor among members present.

The meeting continued with committee reports and discussion of safety planning.
