The Carmel Central School District Board of Education used its April 21 meeting to formally recognize and vote to grant tenure to multiple staff members across the district.
Superintendent Mr. Plunkett opened the tenure recognition ceremony and called recipients up to receive a ram statuette as a district symbol. The board approved resolutions granting tenure to the following staff, per the meeting record and the resolutions read into the record:
- Brian Piazza, principal (tenure effective July 1, 2026) - Monica Barardi, special education (tenure effective August 30, 2026) - Holly Pena Holmes, school social worker (tenure effective August 31, 2026) - Maribel Marchana Perez, ESL/ENL (tenure effective August 30, 2026) - Jacqueline Giavonone, teaching assistant (tenure effective September 1, 2026) - Maria Grito, teaching assistant (tenure effective October 26, 2026) - Victoria Massia, elementary (tenure effective August 30, 2026) - Cassandra Greenfeld, teaching assistant (tenure effective August 30, 2026)
Board members and building leaders offered short tributes highlighting each honoree’s instructional strengths, leadership or student supports. The board voted on each resolution in the open meeting and extended congratulations and a group photo for recipients.
The tenure votes were presented as standard personnel resolutions under New York State education law and the commissioner’s regulations; the meeting record shows each motion was moved, seconded and approved.
