Educators Rising students qualify for nationals; board asked to back a $16,000 trip

At the Central Consolidated Schools board meeting, students from the Educators Rising chapter presented their program and requested board support to attend the Educators Rising national conference in Portland, Oregon, June 19–24.
"Because our students took gold in their designated categories, they qualified for the Ed Rising Nationals," said Alexandra Gass, chapter president, describing state competition wins and qualifying events. Advisor Brandy Natseway introduced the four students who earned gold and outlined what the trip would entail.
Natseway and the students told the board the estimated total cost for travel, registration, lodging and meals is about $16,000. The presentation noted students may not have flown before and that organizers are monitoring hotel availability and registration deadlines.
Board members expressed support during the question period. Board member Soderman offered "strong support for this trip and program." Member Aspaas praised student behavior and chaperone management at prior events.
