The council approved a conditional interim-use permit for a short-term rental at 1123 15th Avenue Northeast.
Community Development Director James Cranic said the application from Luminum Properties LLC (represented by Jerry Lumin) had no opponents at the planning commission hearing, but staff noted the property had been rented to a long-term tenant who experienced a fire and whose dog prompted an animal-control call while the tenancy persisted. According to staff, Mike Fish was the responsible party who worked with neighbors and animal control to resolve the issue.
Planning Commission recommended a one-year IUP rather than the maximum 24 months because of the recent incidents. Conditions approved by council require termination of the IUP upon sale or transfer of the property, compliance with the city's outdoor-lighting standards, watercraft to remain within property boundaries if docked on the lake, driveway parking for overnight guests and submission of monthly lodging-tax reports to the finance department.
Council approved staff's recommendation on a motion by Chzach, second by Johnson.
