Vice Chairman Reedy, the bill’s sponsor, told the committee the measure updates systems for budgeting, investment oversight, debt management and cash management, noting the local law traces to private acts of 1939. “House Bill 2669 is for Benton County. It’s a private act… subject to local approval, updates the system for the management of county finances,” he said.
Committee members asked no substantive policy questions during the presentation; comments that followed were informal and referenced Benton County landmarks such as Loretta Lynn’s Ranch and the Freshwater Pearl Museum. The clerk opened the roll call and recorded nine votes in favor and zero against.
Because the bill was recorded as approved by the committee, it now goes to the State and Local Government committee for further consideration. No amendments or conditions were recorded during the committee discussion.
