Kley said the combined quotes for those labs total roughly $84,000 across two models to match different lab needs.
Second, the board authorized the purchase of up to 250 student Chromebooks and additional staff devices (discussion centered on buying 225–250 student units and about 75 staff machines), along with four-year warranty plans. Kley said the district typically budgets devices to last multiple years and that families pay a $20 annual warranty fee (waived for students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch).
Third, the board approved replacement of aging wireless access points, additional switching capacity and related licenses. Kley explained that the packet showed the vendor’s full price and that the district expected to receive a federal discount (the vendor will apply for the funding). Kley told the board the district’s out-of-pocket portion would be approximately $55,000 while the vendor pursues the federal discount to cover the remainder.
Board members asked about bandwidth for large events, warranty coverage, grant eligibility and the budgeting strategy of pre-purchasing equipment across fiscal years to avoid price increases. After discussion the board moved and approved the three technology purchases by voice vote.
