Parks and recreation accepts memorial bench; hatchery reports thousands of trout stocked and RFP for fairgrounds use set to issue

The Works Committee accepted a donation of a memorial bench from the Adirondack Runners Club to be installed roughly 500 feet north of Glen Lake Road; parks staff said crews will pour the pad, install the bench and manage removal during winter months to protect path maintenance.
Parks and hatchery staff reported active stocking: as of the latest update staff had placed just under 5,000 brook trout and 1,700 rainbow trout and expected totals of about 5,800 brook trout and 6,200 rainbows by the end of the week. "It was a great event — a lot of smiles from the kids," the hatchery manager, Connor Whan, said of a youth stocking program organized with the town of Queensbury’s aquatics director, Mr. Crossman.
Staff also reminded the committee that there is no Department of Health maximum crowd capacity listed for the fairgrounds but that the county maintains 59 tent sites and 10 RV sites; an RFP for fairgrounds use will be issued and proposals will be routed to local town supervisors as needed for questions about local impacts.
The committee approved the bench donation and noted staff will continue to refine siting and maintenance standards for benches to avoid path overcrowding.
