Adams County board approves two zoning rezonings and recognizes longtime employee

At its April 21, 2026, organizational meeting, the Adams County Board of Supervisors voted to enact two zoning ordinances affecting parcels in the town of New Haven and approved a retirement recognition for a long-serving county employee.
Ordinance 3 amended the county zoning map to rezone a parcel (described as the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter, section 13, town 14 north, range 7 east; address 172 Glenn Avenue) from A135 exclusive agriculture with a farmland preservation overlay to A3 secondary agriculture. The Planning and Zoning Committee recommended enactment; the board moved the ordinance, heard no public discussion, and the clerk announced the vote as 20 yes. "Ordinance three is approved," the clerk stated.
Ordinance 4 was introduced immediately afterward. It would rezone a parcel in section 24 of the same township from A135 exclusive agriculture with farmland preservation overlay to A115 exclusive agriculture with farmland preservation overlay. The Planning and Zoning Committee recommended enactment; with no questions or discussion the board voted and the clerk recorded 20 yes.
The board also adopted Resolution 15 recognizing Linda Arnison for 23 years of service to Adams County. Supervisors praised Arnison's institutional knowledge and service in remarks read into the record; the resolution passed unanimously.
The board approved claims and mileage and scheduled a special meeting for the following Tuesday to approve appointments and provide orientation; a student presentation was announced for that meeting. The board adjourned at approximately 4:55 p.m.
