Members said the state program performs burns free to the township but schedules are weather‑dependent and driven by volunteer resources; that constraint has left Negri unburned in recent cycles.
Committee members also discussed mowing windows and bird nesting season constraints. Several members cited a nesting period beginning around May 15; staff said waiting too long can both miss the burn window and prevent timely mowing. The group asked DPW to provide a mowing schedule and discussed options for paid contractors if the state program's scheduling does not serve local priorities.
Staff indicated they would gather cost estimates and service options for non‑state burn contractors and would follow up with DPW and fire officials about other possible assistance.
