The Brainerd City Safety and Public Works Committee authorized staff to pursue a search warrant to abate a trailer and vehicle parked on an unimproved front yard at 624th Avenue NE.
Community Development Director Kanic told the committee the property received a warning letter and three citations; staff reported the boat pictured in materials had been removed but other vehicles and the trailer remained and the owner had not contacted staff. Kanic said the city issues a final 10-day warning letter before council action and that a search warrant would allow staff to go onto the property to tow the items if the owner does not comply.
Councilmembers asked procedural questions about the warrant, including whether it permits breaking locks if necessary; Kanic said staff would consult the city attorney on specific enforcement tactics. A motion to move forward with obtaining a search warrant was made, seconded and carried on a voice vote.
