Committee approves Phase Two sanitary sewer modeling for South Brainerd

Brainerd City staff presented and the Safety and Public Works Committee approved Phase Two of a sanitary sewer modeling effort for South Brainerd, a step staff said will help evaluate capacity for future development.
Engineer Jesse explained the proposal expands the prior hydraulic model to cover the area south of Graden (roughly Bane Park and the industrial park) so developers’ proposals can be run through the model to assess capacity. Staff recommended SE to perform the work at a cost of $20,171.
Councilmembers noted the work builds on phase one and that the initial model lift reduces cost in a larger second phase. A motion to approve the Phase Two modeling passed on a voice vote.
Staff said the model will be retained by the city and used for scenario testing, and SE will assist as needed.
