City and CRA staff on April 21 presented results from a community input survey about the redevelopment vision for 480 West Boynton Beach Boulevard and surrounding parcels. Staff said they received 1,079 responses, 81% from city residents and most within two miles of the site.
Vicky Hill, CRA finance director, said respondents prioritized mixed‑use development with retail, dining and residential uses, plus public green space and cultural/community facilities. The top amenity requests included walkable design, sidewalks, local restaurants and plazas, with lush landscaping repeatedly noted as a high priority.
When asked about building height, 42% preferred one‑to‑two stories and 36% preferred three‑to‑five stories. Respondents identified traffic and congestion (77%) and parking availability as primary concerns for redevelopment. Open‑ended responses cited Delray Beach’s Atlantic Avenue, West Palm Beach’s Rosemary Square and downtown examples as inspiration for pedestrian‑oriented, mixed‑use design.
Commissioners emphasized using the results to inform concept development and said staff should return with design options and next steps; staff confirmed the survey included the parcels recently closed by the CRA.
