Enterprise council advances budget amendment to buy fire engine, approves major purchases and routine items

The Enterprise City Council amended the FY2026 budget to include the purchase of an E1 Spartan fire engine for $780,000, moving the previously planned FY2027 purchase up a year to address a catastrophic engine failure in a 29-year-old unit. Chief Davis said a ready vehicle is available at a $200,000 savings compared with the earlier estimate and the council approved the budget amendment by motion.
Council approved a series of other budgeted and routine items. Members voted to purchase inclusive playground equipment for Johnny Henderson Family Park through an Omnia Partners contract for $772,521.48 and to buy two Hustler XL zero-turn mowers for $29,998. The council also authorized staff to solicit bids for the FY26 resurfacing improvements and for demolition/clearance of six remaining nuisance properties under the city’s CDBG phase-three initiative.
In public hearings and votes the council also: adopted ordinance 031726A to rezone 218 East Hildreth Avenue from R3 to R4; approved an ABC retail liquor license for Lienda Mexican Restaurant (621 Bow Wevil Circle, Suites 13–14); accepted the FY2025 financial statements presented by Carr Riggs & Ingram LLC; and adopted resolution 042126 extending demolition deadlines to Oct. 31, 2026. The council authorized the mayor to execute an engagement agreement with Bradley Arant Bolt Cummings LLP to identify and prepare federal and state grant applications for city projects.
Most items passed on voice motions; the transcript records motions and that votes carried but does not supply a roll-call tally for each vote. Staff said SRF reimbursements for wastewater treatment plant projects are largely complete and that the Bellewood Tap project received competitive bids (low bid $654,958 from Wiregrass Construction), which will lower the city’s 20% match under the ALDOT TAP funding structure.
