Tulare County names John Lee employee of the year; recognizes 132 staff

Tulare County honored county workers April 21 as part of its employee recognition program. Human Resources Director Lupe Garza said 132 employees across departments were recognized this year; each nominee received a certificate and eight hours of vacation and the employee of the year receives a plaque and 40 additional vacation hours.
Garza introduced nominees from several departments and read selection criteria that emphasize productivity, teamwork and extraordinary service. Nominees included Adrienne Baka Gutierrez (Health and Human Services Agency), Marisol Luviano (Behavioral Health clinician), Sharon Roten (Resource Management), Tiara Stewart (Sheriff's Office food/laundry services manager) and others.
John Lee of the Sheriff’s Office IT desk was selected as the employee of the year. Greeters and board members praised Lee for work that the sheriff said had saved the department "more than 75,000" by diagnosing and repairing critical equipment and preventing extended downtime. The sheriff and several supervisors commended county staff broadly for their daily service to the community.
The board’s recognition program was described as an employee‑nominated process; Garza said award recipients are highlighted in the county newsletter and receive time‑off awards. The presentation closed with group photographs and gratitude from board members.
