Ken Roberts introduced himself to the Parks Commission as the city's recently hired community development director. "Ken Roberts, the recently started community development director for the city," he said, noting his start date and background in planning roles in Maplewood, Lake Elmo and Forest Lake.
Roberts told commissioners he has spent his first weeks meeting staff and that he will routinely attend Planning Commission sessions; he also said attendance at other boards or events will be topic-dependent and coordinated with staff. "I'll be going to all [Planning Commission] meetings. As far as the other groups... it'll be more topic based," he said.
Why it matters: commissioners will interact with the community development director on land-use, master-plan implementation and capital projects. Roberts said he will work closely with Sarah Zaraka and other community development staff to support CIP coordination and project planning.
Next steps: commissioners welcomed Roberts and asked staff to include him in upcoming CIP and master-plan briefings.
