Council hears Pebble Lake golf course update; asks for repair quotes and insurance before considering a long‑term lease

Council Member Leighton presented a review of Pebble Lake golf-course operations and recommended the council consider a longer‑term lease to give operators the certainty needed for capital investments.

Leighton recapped the course's long history and provided year‑to‑date figures: he said rounds played in 2025 were 4,496 to date compared with 5,100 last year and that total revenues were reported up 8 percent. He said season passes are up and tournaments are scheduled, and that the course operates under a lease (current term runs through 2025). Leighton said the course had requested a longer lease to help with business‑plan investments such as restaurant and facility upgrades and suggested considering a 10‑ to 20‑year lease with appropriate conditions.

Council members asked for detailed capital quotes and an accounting of what the club and the city have each paid historically, citing recent irrigation repairs and a remaining $5,000 first‑dollar obligation that the club covers before city capital obligations. Staff and the club were asked to provide a detailed budget, insurance copies and quotes for identified repairs so the council could assess long‑term lease implications.

Leighton said he will collect the quotes and the club will provide more documentation; the council requested the item be prioritized on the next meeting agenda once the bids and insurance documents are available.
