Monterey County Works opens paid internships for 18–24-year-olds; Joby Aviation and hospitality cadres recruiting

Lauren Walters of Monterey County Works said the Joby Aviation cadre — which introduces participants to Joby’s aircraft-building work — has an application deadline this Friday, April 24. The hospitality cadre, which places participants with hotels, restaurants and customer-service employers, will accept applications through May 1.
Walters said the programs combine paid work experience with training and industry-recognized credentials, including an OSHA 10-hour certificate, hospitality certifications such as ServSafe where appropriate, and a leadership-course credential. The programs place participants in cohort-based internships with sector partners and include staff follow-up after application.
Prospective applicants were directed to apply on the Monterey County Works website or via QR codes on county flyers; Walters said county staff will contact applicants after submission. Walters emphasized the value of cohort learning and credentials ‘‘to help participants stand out in a tight local labor market,’’ and encouraged eligible young adults to apply before the deadlines.
The host closed the briefing by noting prior participant success stories and reminding listeners of the next weekly briefing.
