Mrs. Mitchell moved to approve the memorandum of agreement with the American Legion of Pine Grove for use of Legion Field for Valley High School softball practices and games; Mr. Castello seconded the motion. The board also directed Superintendent Mrs. Porter to work with Teresa Loy and the Legion commander to ensure safe travel across the bridge and to take other necessary precautions for student and spectator safety. The motion carried unanimously.
The MOA states Legion Field will be used for practices and games; no fees will be exchanged and the American Legion assumes no responsibility or liability for activities conducted by Wetzel County Schools or injuries to participants or spectators, per the draft memorandum. The board's amendment and direction aim to reduce the district's exposure by clarifying parking and access arrangements and ensuring on-site safety measures are in place.
