Harry Jennis, board president of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of St. Peter, received the 2025 Conrad Rhett Commissioner Award during the council's Oct. 13 meeting, honored for his work supporting residents at Park View Manor and for leading improvements to the city's public housing stock.
The award citation credited Jennis with hands‑on service that ranges from stepping in for maintenance staff to organizing building repairs. In his acceptance remarks, Jennis said the improvements are a team effort and paid tribute to residents and colleagues, adding, "When I look at it, I say, I want this place to be as if I was living here." He described efforts to refresh vacated units with new flooring, plumbing and cabinets so apartments are ready for the next decade.
Michelle, who spoke alongside Jennis and was identified in the presentation as part of the housing authority team, said Jennis had been a mentor and exemplified what a commissioner can do. Todd and Josh, colleagues who also addressed the council, praised Jennis's leadership and the progress the authority has made.
The recognition took place during the meeting's general visitor comments and was followed by a short recess for photographs.
