Dan Winnick said the council previously passed a resolution to not proceed with the existing community center facility and that staff are drafting exit plans. Council members asked for a workshop to review options, including the generator and costs to move or replace equipment.
On student-built housing, staff reported the council approved a finalized contract with St. Paul College and provided a financial update: staff said the most recent completed house had roughly $213,000 in bills for the building this year and a total cost of about $300,400; the house sold for $449,000 (staff corrected an earlier figure) and proceeds after closing costs will be carried to the next project. Staff said excavation, concrete crews and other contractors are being scheduled for the next build.
Council members asked that staff provide transparent timelines and cost details as they develop exit options and next steps for the community center property. Staff agreed to prepare a workshop and to return with numbers and options for council review.
