Glendora library previews National Library Week events, teen space and new telescope

Interim Library Director Donna Dukes told the board the library purchased flexible furniture and mobile shelving to create a teen space and added a new gondola for new materials.
Dukes said the library had previously received two stargazing kits through grants from the California State Library and that demand prompted the Friends Foundation to fund a third telescope: "we were able to add a third one" to meet holds and patron need, she said. Dukes also reported that over the last three fiscal years the library averaged "over a thousand pages" in fax use, roughly 100 pages per month, underscoring routine service demand.
Library Services Manager Cindy Romero thanked volunteers for National Volunteer Week, directed residents to cityofglendora.org for volunteer listings and encouraged participation. Dukes and Romero previewed National Library Week programming: a tote-decorating event April 23 at 5:30 p.m., a teen after-hours escape event April 24 at 5:30 p.m., and a "meet and greet" with Hello Critter goats on the plaza Saturday, April 25 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
In closing comments trustees discussed Night on the Plaza, set for July 11 with the theme "California Dreaming," and asked staff to coordinate the board's customary contributions to a Friends Foundation basket.
