Glendora library trustees approve self-evaluation process; closed sessions produce no reportable action

The Glendora Board of Library Trustees approved its consent calendar (as amended) and adopted the annual board self-evaluation process on a 5-0 vote during its April meeting.

President Erica Landman called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and asked Deputy City Clerk and records manager Rexan Brida to read two closed-session items: a public-employee appointment concerning the recruitment for a library director and a possible threat to public services or facilities under Government Code 54957. When asked to report out, Brida said "a privileged and confidential discussion was held and there was no reportable action taken" on either closed-session matter.

A trustee identified an error in the March 16 minutes noting the entry that said "Vice President Bogle" made a report should instead read "Trustee Long." The board agreed to correct the minutes before approving the consent calendar; the motion to approve the consent calendar as amended carried with a five-member affirmative tally. The transcript records Lisa Long making the second to the consent-calendar motion; the transcript does not name the motion mover.

Under new business, Interim Library Director Donna Dukes reviewed the board self-evaluation process used in past years, including procedures for distributing forms, timelines and reporting results at the June meeting. Dukes said materials and instructions will be emailed to trustees within a week. The board moved to approve the procedure without recorded dissent; the motion carried 5-0.

The meeting adjourned at 9:07 p.m. in memory of Sue Bower, a long-time community volunteer and former mayor.
