Lake Stevens Parks Board welcomes three new members; sets site visits and committee housekeeping

The Parks Board began with introductions of new members and short personal backgrounds. Amelia Dixon said she is originally from Lake Stevens and returned after work as a reporter and in state and federal government: "I live in Lake Stevens and have decided that this is where I'm going to raise my 3 year old son," she said, and added she looks forward to putting her government experience to work for the parks board.
Callie Alexander introduced herself as a Lake Stevens resident for about 15 years and a parent of three who has spent substantial time in local parks. Chair Tina Decker, who said she has served on the board for about eight or nine years, described her background in education and earlier parks-board experience and welcomed the new members.
Staff noted the new members completed and signed the written oath and are active members able to vote immediately; the formal verbal swearing-in will be scheduled for the next parks board meeting. The board approved the March 9 minutes by voice vote after a motion to approve and a second.
For the annual work program, the board agreed to visit Timberlake and Valor Path as their next two site visits and discussed logistics. Members also raised a communication/marketing item and asked staff to coordinate a future discussion with the marketing specialist to explore outreach improvements, including website, Instagram and QR codes for trail maps.
The meeting closed after a motion and second to adjourn.
