A board member said, without naming the contractor, that "if you Google the contractor, you'll you'll see why we had to terminate that contract." The board did not publish the contractor’s name in the open meeting.
District officials said they will begin the advertising process for bids immediately and expected to post advertising by the end of the week. If the timing does not align with the board’s regular May meetings, the administration said it might consult with President Lee and schedule a special meeting to award the contract so the project can proceed without undue delay.
Board members urged quick action and flexibility from members: several said they would try to make room in their schedules to meet for a special meeting if necessary. The administration said the planned reopening date for the science wing is still to be determined.
The consent agenda that included the contract termination was approved earlier in the meeting by roll call.
