Glen Rock honors graduating students; student council announces late-May Rock Fest

The Glen Rock Board of Education recognized several graduating seniors and heard a student-council announcement at its April 20 meeting.
Mrs. Gelando introduced Joyce Ahn as the Class of 2026 Unsung Hero, citing her Special Olympics coaching, work with a Paterson nonprofit preparing meals for people experiencing homelessness, church volunteer roles and service trips to the Navajo Nation and Cambodia. The board applauded her service.
Jay Krywick was presented as salutatorian; speakers listed his multi-year research internship at the Hackensack Center for Discovery and Innovation, completion of 14 advanced-placement courses and contributions to athletics, debate and community service. Jay has committed to the University of Pennsylvania.
Amber Wang was recognized as valedictorian for academic achievement, co-founding the nonprofit Arts for All, volunteering at New Bridge Medical Center and leading Science Rocks; speakers noted her academic rigor and community engagement.
Hudson, the student senior representative on the board, reported strong starts to spring sports and said the student council — in coordination with high school administration and the wellness center — will hold "Rock Fest" on campus in late May. The festival will excuse students from classes for an afternoon of food trucks, games such as spikeball and pickleball, performances by student bands and prize giveaways.
The board thanked students and families for attending the recognitions and encouraged a continuation of community support for student activities.
