Montini identified himself as mayor and the presiding officer of the canvassing authority and told those present the totals were verified in the county’s official canvas: "I am mayor Brian Montini, presiding officer of canvassing authority for a town of Northlake special election held on 05/02/2026 in Denton County, Texas hereby certify that the following is the total of all votes received for each proposition as verified in the Denton County Elections Administration bridal canvas report," he said.
He confirmed that at least two council members made up the canvassing board for the special meeting, that the meeting was open to the public and properly posted in the Town of Northlake, and that the proceedings would be reflected in the official minutes in accordance with section 67.004 of the Texas Election Code. "The proceedings of this meeting will be notated in the official minutes of the special meet canvas meeting and will reflect the completion of the canvas as required by section 67.004 of the Texas Election Code," Montini said.
After the county totals were read, a motion to approve the canvass was made; Montini said, "I will second that motion and consider that a final vote." The transcript does not record who first moved the motion, nor does it record a roll-call vote tally; Montini treated the second and the board's action as the final approval.
With the canvass approved and no further business, Montini adjourned the meeting.
