Montour and Car Lake students present learning, recognize staff and program wins

Students from Montour High and Car Lake Community Day School presented program highlights and staff recognitions to the board on Jan. 27.
Montour student representatives Ida Aendano and Eric Sotes described the school’s focus on the district “portrait of a graduate,” credit recovery options, and a 12% increase in students earning full credit at the end of learning cycles. They highlighted winter intersession offerings, graduation counts, and expanded student activities including art programs and field trips.
Car Lake students and staff explained that the Community Day School serves students placed for a designated term after education‑code violations and emphasized supports designed to help students return to their comprehensive sites. Jasmine Aras and Ida Aendano described staff structure (two teachers, two PAR educators, a counselor, probation staff), recent validation for model status, VR technology in classes, arts integration, and wellness center usage (94 scheduled appointments and 48 group sessions last fall). The board offered congratulations and trustees commended the students and staff for their work.
The presentations concluded with student recognitions and a short photo break before public comment began.
