Board proclaims School Counseling Week and CTE Month, approves gym video displays at five high schools

The board unanimously adopted three resolutions on Jan. 27: Resolution 2603 endorsing Feb. 2–6, 2026 as National School Counseling Week; Resolution 2604 declaring February 2026 Career Technical Education Month; and Resolution 2606 recognizing January as School Board Recognition Month. Trustees praised counselors, CTE educators and noted student and staff recognitions that accompanied the proclamations.
In business items, trustees considered a multi‑site plan to replace gym scoreboards with 8x15‑foot video displays at five high schools. District staff and athletic directors said the displays would support student learning (AV/production training), enhance game‑day experiences, create sponsorship revenue, and enable multiuse functions such as assemblies and safety messaging. Director of General Services Edgar Eskeel showed renderings and described the technical differences between existing standard scoreboards and full video displays.
Trustees approved an architectural agreement with Instudio Architecture to design the installations and authorized a piggyback procurement with Dtronics for the displays. Board members urged schools to pursue sponsorship and to integrate displays into AV or production coursework so students can manage live events and create school content.
All resolutions and the two business items were carried by voice vote during the meeting.
