Council hears plan to move town email and website to indianrivershores.gov and to adopt formal seal
Summary
Staff described a multi‑step migration to a unified town domain (indianrivershores.gov) to consolidate email, calendars and the website, and presented a proposed town seal and brand; staff said the .gov domain adds modest anti‑spoofing security benefits and will be rolled out over time with a forthcoming resolution to adopt the official seal.

Town Manager Mr. Harping and IT staff told council the town is consolidating staff email and the public website to a single .gov domain (indianrivershores.gov) to modernize infrastructure and improve shared calendars, address lists and cloud integration.
"We are moving to Indianrivershores.gov as a single unified domain for all staff," Mr. Harping said, adding that legacy addresses will be forwarded and that the migration is phased to allow an approximate one‑year cutover and decommissioning of older domains. Mike Latinsky, the town's IT director, was thanked by Mr. Harping for his work on the migration.
Staff also previewed a proposed official seal and a lighter, more welcoming brand logo; the council was told a resolution will be presented at a future meeting to designate the official seal. Council asked for a draft business‑card template that incorporates the seal and the new email addresses.
Staff noted a small security benefit to the .gov domain in limiting spoofing relative to general commercial domains, but said it is not a complete safeguard against all threats. The council did not take action beyond directing staff to prepare the formal resolution and templates for review.
