The superintendent also noted Ganonbacher's degrees, including a bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Missouri at Columbia and advanced degrees (master of science, education specialist, doctorate) from Missouri Baptist University.
Board members congratulated Ganonbacher and the district applauded following the announcement. The motion to approve the hire was presented by the superintendent and recorded as approved.
The hire replaces Dr. Carrie Skeers, who has moved to the assistant superintendent role in teaching and learning. The district said Ganonbacher's start date will be July 1.
