The Los Altos School District Board unanimously approved a tentative agreement with the Los Altos Teachers Association that negotiators described as covering a set of non‑economic updates to the contract.
District and union negotiators summarized the agreement in the meeting packet and during the board meeting. The changes include updated leave codes to align with current regulations, revisions to transfer and reassignment procedures intended to streamline processes, additions to evaluation practices including informal and formal support plans, a cap on ordinary staff meetings at 60 minutes, and creation of district‑level and site‑level safety teams to address staff safety concerns.
The agreement also includes an MOU reaffirming collaborative partnerships around special education and provisions for junior high release time tied to class sizes. Board members thanked both negotiating teams for working in good faith. Trustee Stella moved to approve the tentative agreement; Trustee Brian seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
District staff said the posted version of the agreement will be updated before finalization and invited board members to a May 5 celebration of the agreement.
