Town of Ramseur approves $24,311 asphalt repairs to patch water-leak locations

The Town of Ramseur Board of Commissioners approved a $24,311 quote from Seven Ladies Contracting to patch seven sites around town where water leaks have affected road surfaces.
The utility director told the board the quote would cover seven patches and that $35,122 was available in the town’s public-works account to pay for the work. "Get all of them patched was $24,311," the utility director said when presenting the estimate.
Board members asked whether all the patches lie on town-maintained roads and whether the contractor had been used previously; staff said some patches are on DOT roads that are scheduled for grinding and repaving by the road owner, and that the board would exclude the West Ridge Street location from this contract. A motion to accept the asphalt quote excluding West Ridge Street was seconded and approved.
The work is intended to address immediate safety and maintenance concerns caused by water-line repairs; staff noted planned coordination with upcoming larger road resurfacing so the town does not duplicate work.
