East Grand Forks council approves accessibility and special archery deer-hunt recommendations for 2025

The East Grand Forks City Council on April 15 approved two 2025 special-deer-hunt recommendation forms, including an accessibility archery hunt the city will submit to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Jeremy King, vice president of the East Grand Forks Fire Relief Association, briefed the council on the accessibility hunt, saying, "we got the dates picked out ... October 9th, 10th, and 11th." King said temporary structures will be sited in zones with the least foot traffic and that the hunt will use three of five available zones. He said participants "will receive four tags, two either or and two antlerless," and added that two of the tags will be allocated to wounded warriors and that "Randy will facilitate all that for the city."
Council members moved and seconded each recommendation form; roll-call votes were recorded and the motions passed. Council did not record additional conditions or funding needs during the discussion.
By voting to authorize staff to submit the forms to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the council advanced the procedural step necessary to seek state approval for both the accessibility and the special archery hunts.
