The Bay Shore Union Free School District board on a voice vote approved a proposed $211,651,256 expenditure budget for fiscal year 2026–27 and carried a slate of personnel and routine motions on the consent agenda.
Administration presented the budget and asked the board to "accept, approve, and present to the voters an expenditure budget in the amount of $211,651,256 for the operation of the Bay Shore Union Free School District for the fiscal year 2026–2027," language the board approved during the C3 motion. Board members were provided a long-range capital plan and transfer‑to‑capital assumptions tied to multiyear debt-service changes.
In the same meeting the board accepted the February 2026 financial and claims auditors' report and adopted a Type II SEQRA determination designating the board as lead agency for the Bay Shore High School auditorium HVAC (roof chiller replacement), allowing that facilities work to proceed through the prescribed local review process.
The routine consent agenda items approved by voice included professional‑staff resignations and retirements; requests for leave; professional and civil‑service appointments and changes in assignment; substitute and home‑tutor lists; classroom‑use agreements for summer enrichment; and budget transfer requests. The motions were read by administrators and moved and seconded during the public session; the transcript records voice votes with "motion carries" rather than roll‑call tallies.
What's next: The proposed budget will be presented to voters as required by state law; the district also approved the required property‑tax report card to accompany the budget vote and will distribute that report card as part of the budget adoption process.
