At its April 23 meeting the Strongsville Board of Education adopted the consent calendar by a single motion and approved a range of routine items and contracts that included grant funding, personnel actions and multi-year software agreements.
Grants: The board accepted an SEF elementary scooter grant ($4,500) to purchase Razor scooters for elementary PE and a PTA grant of $675 to support ukulele purchases. The Education Foundation reported it has funded $18,700 this year and has approximately $8,400 remaining for grants.
Personnel: The board reviewed and approved a long series of human-resources items on the consent calendar, including resignations, retirements, new appointments (administrative, certificated and non-certificated), substitutes, supplemental athletic contracts and leaves of absence. The agenda noted an upcoming vote at a future meeting to confirm certain leadership items when the full board is present.
Contracts and technology: The technology report included approval requests for a three-year renewal of Bloxy classroom-management and student-safety software (annual cost and term quoted in the agenda), a three-year website and content-management contract with Final Site Active Internet Technologies (year 1: $9,480; year 2: $9,989; year 3: $10,528; total $29,997), and a PowerSchool enrollment/registration agreement for June 30, 2026'June 29, 2027 (contract amount as listed in the agenda). Dave, the technology presenter, asked the board to approve those agreements.
Procurement and facilities: The board also approved a resolution to participate in the Ohio Department of Transportation cooperative bidding program for sodium chloride (rock salt) for June 2026'May 2027 to supply custodial materials; the city liaison separately reported the city council planned to buy 9,000 tons of road salt for municipal use.
What happens next: Contract implementation and personnel onboarding will proceed under normal administrative procedures. The board indicated no separate discussion was required for these consent items and will revisit any removed items in future meetings if requested.
