Council plans FY28 funding request; seeks to raise human-services allocation to $1 million

Bolic said changes in substance‑misuse funding have created some budget certainty for that line item, but the needs‑assessment is likely to underscore rising demand for services across other program areas. "We will be sending a letter to the town with our funding request for fiscal year 28," she said, and encouraged members to prepare supporting materials that highlight outcomes.
Members also discussed the contract-review process and quarterly reports from grantees. The chair and members said reports currently arrive in inconsistent formats and that standardizing submissions — a one‑page summary or a rubric tied to application categories — would make it easier to track outputs, compare grantees and demonstrate impact to the town and funders. Several members suggested using student teams or automated summarization tools to extract outcomes and produce concise annual summaries for presentations to town meeting and grant makers.
There was no vote at the meeting; Bolic said the council will include the funding request on the fall warrant and continue coordinating with town finance and CRC (Contract Review Committee) to finalize details.
