The Kennedale Independent School District board voted unanimously to approve edits to its board operating procedures and heard a staff presentation on proposed edits to EIC (local), the district's graduation policy.
At item 5A, Mr. Daryl Owens moved to approve the edits to the board operating procedures as presented; Mr. Sura seconded the motion and the board voted in favor without dissent. The board president announced the motion carried.
Earlier in the meeting, Dr. Maria Douglas described the proposed edits to EIC (local) as a response to recent state-level changes affecting graduation plans and course weights. "The state come back this year and they changed a lot of things," Dr. Douglas said, and staff presented the edits as a first reading with the intention of adopting the revised policy at the next board meeting scheduled for the 20th.
No substantive public debate of the EIC (local) edits was recorded during the meeting; the board moved to closed session later in the agenda and then returned to take action on a separate grievance matter before adjourning at 8:11 p.m.
