The Perry County Council appointed Jim Alexander to the Animal Welfare Board on April 22 after receiving a letter of interest. Council members noted Alexander's volunteer work as a dog walker at local shelters, his 13 years as a reserve officer with Tell City Police Department and nearly 30 years as a small-business owner; they said those experiences would be useful in assessing potential ordinance violations and serving on the board.
Council member Corey moved to appoint Alexander and Gail seconded the motion. The council voted by voice to approve the appointment.
No other applicants were presented at the meeting. Alexander's letter of interest was dated March 30 and included contact information for follow-up.
